Music Week- Bethany Dillon

Are you surprised? Do you know who this is? She is a more raw type of singer- which I really like. She, like Carrie Underwood, can really sing. The lyrics to all of her songs are amazing, and she writes them all. I recently got her acoustic sessions cd for Christmas and I can't bring myself to switch to a different cd in my car. It's fabulous.

The song I want to highlight is Hallelujah. Here are the lyrics.

Who can hold the stars
And my weary heart?
Who can see everything?

I've fallen so hard
Sometimes I feel so far
But not beyond your reach
I could climb a mountain
Swim the ocean
Or do anything
But it's when you hold me
That I start unfolding
And all I can say is
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Whatever's in front of me
Help me to sing hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Whatever's in front of me
I'll choose to sing hallelujah

The same sun that
Rises over castles
And welcomes the day
Spills over buildings
Into the streets
Where orphans play
And only you can see the good
In broken things
You took my heart of stone
And you made it home
And set this prisoner free

Hallelujah, hallelujah
Whatever's in front of me
Help me to sing hallelujah
Hallelujah, hallelujah
Whatever's in front of me
I'll choose to sing hallelujah

I love the chorus. Whatever's in front of me I choose to sing Hallelujah. You are still God. You are still real. You are still good. I remember the good that you've done in me Lord and that is enough.I didn't deserve it.  Tomorrow and it's worries are not as significant as that.

Matthew 6:25Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?34Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Love it. Encourages my heart.

I just can't put lyrics to one song of hers on here because they are so good. Here is another one.

The Calmer of the sea
Here in this room with me
So gently welcoming
The weakest things in me
You are the blood over
The door of my heart
What pain You spared me from
How could I know it all?
Oh wonderful love, You died for me
The power of Your life is in me

Father, let Your light shine down on me
Father, let Your light shine down on me
No matter what the day or night may bring
Father, let Your light shine down on me
Oh Jesus, You became what was my deepest shame
That at Your very name
My calloused heart would change
How could You, oh perfect One
Love me, when I have done nothing that's worthy of
My freedom You have won

Oh wonderful love, You died for me
The power of Your life is in me
Father, let Your light shine down on me
Father, let Your light shine down on me
No matter what the day or night may bring
Father, let Your light shine down on me

Open up the heavens
Poor down Your Spirit
Home me God
Jesus, wherever You lead
I'll sing harmony
Hold me God

Father, let Your light shine down on me
Father, let Your light shine down on me
No matter what the day or night may bring
Father, let Your light shine down on me

I love the imagery of the first verse. The blood over the door of my heart. What pain you spared me from, how could I know it all? So good and so true. When I listen to this music and sing along my heart cries out with the music. It melts me and brings me back to what's real and true. So good.

Ok, time for some videos.

This one is a little dark- but she is singing with her hubby Shane Bernard. More on him this week.

  3. Change is pretty good, but I feel guilty every time I listen to it! It's very true.

I know Megan- Shane is like 30 something and she is mabye 20. But they are so obviously a good couple. We got to see the church they got married in-- in Ohio. One of our good friends got married in the same church a couple weeks before they did. I hope they are enjoying marriage. :)
