6 years ago Saturday...

Jason and I were married.

There were multiple glitches that day including- a hurricane headed straight to Cancun where we were supposed to honeymoon. Jason had to do some last minute travel planning and we ended up going to New Orleans instead. When the flowers arrived- my bouquet was pink when it was supposed to be red. My good friend Molly went and made sure that the right bouquet would be delivered before the wedding. And just in case another good friend Barbara went to a local floral store and bought me a back up bouquet. I ended up with 3 bouquets by the end of the day.

All the ladies went to the salon together that day and got hair and make up done. It was a fun morning full of coffee and laughter. We had spent the night together at one of my best friend and bridesmaid's house the night before- Jade. Everyone stayed up until all hours of the night, but I went to bed at 3 am.

I remember making sure to shave my legs well that morning. It was the first time someone else would appreciate that. I remember being so nervous right before my walk down the aisle that I started to sweat profusely and had to stand in front of a fan. I remember needing help to say my vows- because I was a little distracted by all the things running through my head when I was thinking about when they mean.

I am so glad that I married Jason those many years ago. It was one of the best things I've ever done. I pray we will always hold true to these vows.

Faith. I take you this day as one who is precious in the sight of God to be my wife
I promise, by God’s grace, to love you as Christ Himself loves His bride the church
continually encouraging you in the word so that you may be holy and blameless
I promise to be kind and tender hearted, forgiving you just as God in Christ has forgiven me
I will live with you in an understanding way protecting and caring for you in all things
I promise to direct our lives into a life of faith in Christ granting you honor as a fellow heir of grace
So you can be the woman God intends you to be
Therefore I pledge you my life as a loving and faithful husband

Jason, I take you this day as one who is precious in the sight of God to be my husband
By God’s grace I will follow your leadership as head of our home
I will love you with the love that always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres
I will be slow to anger, quick to forgive, and quick to encourage
I believe that if God allows riches or poverty, sickness or health, peace or persecution, He is working
everything for our good, just as He promised
I believe I have been created to be a support to you and where you go I will go, where you stay I will stay
Therefore I pledge you my life as a loving and faithful wife.
