From Death to Life

My Grandmother passed away today at 1pm. What a wonderful woman! She will be missed.

But I am thankful for the time she had here and the impact she made. She raised 5 boys on her own when her husband died suddenly of kidney disease. She ran a "tight ship" making sure they were always well cared for with food on the table and a roof over their head. She worked hard to take care of them. She was a wonderful mother.

I will miss her humor and her example. She always had some comment to make to put things in perspective or compassion to show. She was very loyal and hard working. A woman with strong character. You could trust her and know that she meant what she said. She had a great laugh and made a mean chicken dinner.

I will miss seeing how well she actively loved others. She was always looking to do something for someone in need or remind me of keeping someone in my prayers.

I bought things to make a dinner she made for me once this week. She was a great cook. I have a blanket she made for me. It is the most intricately crocheted blanket. It's just beautiful. I can tell she spent hours on it. I will cherish it for a long time.

But now she is experiencing complete joy. I am sad she is gone but happy she is with our God. How much does Jesus love her? More than I ever could. He is welcoming His dear child into His kingdom. What a wonderful place to be, to have your tears wiped away and to see the throne of God. Amazing.

2nd Corinthians 5:6-9
6 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, 7 for we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord. 9 So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please him.

I think Jesus is pleased. I know my Grandmother is at home with her Lord.
