He's here!

Ethan Jay Vandever was born on February 16th at 6:08 am. No induction was needed. My water broke at about 6:40 on the 15th and I was thrown into labor- with contractions less than a minute apart. An epidural and 12 hours later (with some other stuff I was spare you from) Ethan was born. :)

I was so overwhelmed that he was actually outside of me and not inside anymore. I will be honest. It took a few days for it to sink in that I was really his momma. He likes me a lot. That helps.

Some funny things that have happened since we got home from the hospital.

#1- I wake up with Jason sitting on the bed in the middle of the night with his finger in Ethan's mouth to which Ethan  is sucking away frantically. He had been trying to get him to sleep for 2 hours. I said- let me take over. Jason said- good. This kid is pyscho. All he wants is to suck. I said- did you just call your child pyscho? We both laughed.

#2 While Jason and I are changing Ethan's poopy diaper- a delayed pooping occurs. Apparently, our little man was still going. We had to decide, do we put a new diaper on him? Do we let him finish? It was decided to stand there and let him finish. While his diaper is open and I am attempting to catch the poop that is coming out, Ethan promptly pees on his own face. We are such good parents.:)

Here is a pic or two of this cute little guy. I am a little bit biased.

  4. Congrats! So very cute! And both #1 and #2 aren't far off from some of our early experiences with Levi. I'd love to hear the full birth story sometime!

  5. Take it from me...poo and pee happen. Children and parents are washable. One of our favorite sayings is, "You know it is a bad day when you poop in your socks!" It will happen, but you will be more concerned for your sick child than the fact that you just carried him through the mall with his poop running down you. :-)
